(Treaty 6 Territory, Saskatoon, SK) – The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) Executive and the Prince Albert Grand Council (PAGC) will be holding the Community Medicine Gathering on December 5 and 6, 2016 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

“The purpose of the gathering is to discuss the challenges threatening our youth and to share strategies already developed,” said FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron. “The ultimate goal is to develop a comprehensive First Nations driven response to the continued trauma faced by our communities. We have a treaty right to health and that includes receiving the proper resources from the Crown to deal with this crisis situation.”

“We are inviting First Nation communities from across the various treaty territories to help us with this community strategy,” said PAGC Grand Chief Ron Michel. “We need to develop a plan that’s includes input from our young people.”

Last month, the FSIN Chiefs-in-Assembly passed a resolution to organize a youth crisis gathering to develop a comprehensive First Nation driven response to the continued trauma faced by communities.
