Two Regina men were arrested after an incident involving a firearm on Kawacatoose First Nation Sunday morning.

Just after 8:20 a.m., Punnichy RCMP recieved a call about threats being made to a male occupant in a residence on the First Nation, and that firearms were involved. Police arrived and  located the suspects at another residence just before 9 a.m. Police attempted to take them into custody but they refused to leave the residence.

The RCMP Emergency Response Team, RCMP Police Dog Services from Yorkton and the Battlefords, Wynyard RCMP and an RCMP Crisis Negotiator were called in to assist. The situation ended peacefully just before noon when six adults were taken into custody. A seventh person was taken into custody about an hour later.


Michael David Blueeyes, 25, has been charged with Uttering Threats, Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon andresisting arrest. He appeared in court today at Punnichy, Saskatchewan. His next court appearance is scheduled for Friday, September 23rd in Regina.

Ricky Charles Longman, 24, has been charged with Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon. He appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was released for court at Punnichy on November 8th, 2016.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be pending.
