Two people have been charged in the death of five year-old child killed by a vehicle in a hit and run Tuesday evening on Highway 55 in Big River, SK.

Stephen Lalonde, 43, of Big River, has been charged with impaired Driving Causing Death, Dangerous Driving Causing Death, Failure to Stop and Remain at Scene and other charges. Lalonde made his first court appearance in Prince Albert today.

Sharon McMahon, 50, of Big River, was charged with one count of Failure to Stop and Remain at Scene. McMahon was released before a Justice of the Peace and will attend court in Big River at a future date.

At 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, Big River RCMP responded to a complaint of a pedestrian hit and run that occurred on that highway.  EMS responded and transported the five-year-old male victim to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
