One man has been charged after a collision involving a snowmobile on the Day Star First Nation.

On March 10, Punnichy RCMP received a call after 9 p.m. about the collision. One male was injured and required medical attention. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Lestock with reportedly non-life threatening injuries.

Two snowmobiles were also at the scene along with a group of local friends and family who had arrived to assist the injured male.  While at the scene, two adult males, a 27-year-old man from Day Star First Nation and a 41-year-old man from Wynyard, Saskatchewan were each arrested during the course of the initial investigation for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle.  On March 29, police charged 41-year-old Ryan Carlton Kay of Wynard, SK for impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level exceeding .08.

The investigation into the initial collision is ongoing and charges are pending.
