The Western Hockey League announced Wednesday the Western and Eastern Conference All-Star Teams for its 50th Season.

Defenseman Ethan Bear was named a Western Conference First Team All-Star. Bear finished the season fifth in the WHL in scoring among defensemen. Bear had 19 goals and 46 assists for 65 points, and was named the Defenseman of the Year at the team awards ceremony. Bear was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the fifth round, 124th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft.

Bear’s Seattle Thunderbird teammate, Mathew Barzal was also named to the team as Forward. Barzal finished 11th in the WHL in scoring this season with 27 points and 61 assists for 88 points.
