Ethan Bear had a hat trick Friday night to lead the Seattle Thunderbirds to a 5-1 victory over the Spokane Chiefs.

Seattle took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a power-play goal by Bear, then in the second period, Bear put the puck into an empty net for another power-play goal. He completed the hat trick in the third period, sending the puck into the goal over the glove of the Chiefs’ goalie.

Bear has nine goals and 24 assists on the season for 31 points. He leads the WHL in scoring by a defenseman. Bear is three goals behind Jake Bean of the Calgary Hitmen for the lead in goals scored by defenseman.
