RCMP have arrested an adult male in connection with the homicide of Monica Burns. In a media release, RCMP noted that there is no indication that the accused and the victim were known to one another.

Todd Daniel McKeaveney, 38, of Prince Albert was arrested January 28, 2015 and charged with one count of second degree murder. He will make his first court appearance on January 30, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

The release also stated that the Major Crime Unit North investigators are very appreciative of the support shown by Monica’s family.  Investigators acknowledged that Monica’s family has demonstrated an unbelievable level of cooperation and understanding throughout the investigation and their support of the investigators has been nothing short of amazing. The release said that investigators recognized that Monica was loved dearly by her friends and family, who will miss her greatly.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit North and Prince Albert RCMP also expressed their thanks and gratitude to the Prince Albert Police Service for their assistance in the investigation, noting that the mutual cooperation was a tremendous asset throughout the investigation.
